The Woman Behind The Cat House

I’ve been through some shit. I’ve worked hard to build a life I’m proud of, and now I’m ready to give back.

I’m Lexie, the owner of The Cat House Waxing & Esthetics Studio in Salt Lake City, a licensed Master Esthetician and instructor, and a serious skin science nerd.

My path here wasn’t a straight line. I spent 15 years struggling with addiction, from the age of 15 to 30. Today, I have eight years of sobriety. I share that because I know what it feels like to be judged before someone knows your story. I also know how much it matters when someone treats you with kindness, respect, and dignity. That’s the foundation of The Cat House.

I attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, majoring in fashion merchandising, before finding my passion in esthetics. I went on to study at Skinworks School of Advanced Skincare and earn my Master Esthetician license. I’m also a licensed instructor and was LYCON’s first U.S. waxing sales representative—experiences that helped me bring my love of education beyond my own treatment room.

And I love the science. I want to know what’s in a product, how it works, why it belongs on your skin, and what results we can realistically expect. I’m constantly learning about ingredients, formulations, treatments, and skin function. If you ask me why I’m using something, get comfortable. There might be a whole lesson coming.

I’m selective about the products I use and recommend. At The Cat House, I work with professional skincare and cosmeceutical formulations chosen for their ingredients, quality, and purpose. A pretty bottle or a viral trend isn’t enough to earn a place in my treatment room. Your treatment and homecare should make sense for your skin, and I should be able to explain every part of that plan.

My philosophy is progression over aggression. Healthy skin takes thoughtful treatment, consistency, and the right support at home. And yes, homecare is non-negotiable. We’re a team, and what happens between appointments matters.

But my passion goes beyond skincare and waxing. I’m working toward changes in esthetics licensing, education, and professional standards surrounding domestic violence, sexual violence, consent, and client dignity. I want practitioners to be better prepared to respond compassionately when someone shares an experience of abuse and to help them find appropriate support without pressure or judgment.

I’m also advocating for better education about involuntary bodily responses during intimate services. An automatic bodily response is not consent or, by itself, a reflection of someone’s intentions. Nobody should be humiliated, mocked, or shamed for something their body does involuntarily. Practitioners can maintain clear boundaries while treating clients with dignity. Both matter.

Connecting with my clients is one of my favorite parts of this work. I love the conversations, the laughter, the questions, and watching someone become more comfortable in their own skin. You don’t need to apologize for your body, your hair, your size, or being nervous. You deserve respectful care and an esthetician who takes your comfort seriously.

The Cat House is personal to me. It reflects what I love, what I’ve learned, and how I believe people deserve to be treated. Come for the smooth skin, stay for the conversation, and know you’re welcome exactly as you are.

No hair. No hate. Tomcats welcome.

The Cat House’s Mission & Values

At The Cat House Waxing & Esthetics Studio, our mission is to combine expert waxing and skincare with respect, education, and care without judgment. Every body deserves to feel welcome, comfortable, and heard.

Inclusivity is part of how we practice. We welcome every body, gender, identity, size, and background. Trans clients are booked and priced according to the service that aligns with their gender identity. Nonbinary clients are welcome to discuss their preferences privately and respectfully, without assumptions or pressure to explain who they are.

We believe great care starts with communication and consent. You deserve to understand your treatment, ask questions, set boundaries, and request a pause at any time. Involuntary bodily responses are treated professionally and without shame. Respect goes both ways, and we maintain clear boundaries that protect the dignity and safety of clients and practitioners alike.

Our treatments are guided by skin science, ongoing education, and thoughtfully selected professional products. We explain what we recommend and why, with an approach rooted in progression over aggression and realistic expectations.

Our commitment extends beyond the treatment room through our work with the YWCA, planned charitable giving, and advocacy for stronger esthetics education and standards around domestic violence, sexual violence, consent, and compassionate care.

Expert care. Honest conversations. Room to be yourself.

No hair. No hate. Tomcats welcome
